The Project

A self-contained academic campus shaped by site, climate and use.

The academic block was developed within a nine-acre campus comprising hostels, staff accommodation, play areas, canteen, guest facilities, a medicinal garden and internal circulation.

The sloping terrain was integrated into the building levels rather than treated as a problem to be removed.

Design Concept

“Penta Circle” — pentagonal learning spaces around a circular core.

Pentagonal classrooms and laboratories were organised along curved corridors and connected to a circular central core containing administration, offices and the library.

The design was developed around four priorities: climatology, functionality, distinctive aesthetic value and workmanship.

Professional Reflection

Early lessons that continue to influence practice.

This project established several principles that continued through later work: respond to climate before adding systems, resolve functionality through planning, treat geometry as a tool rather than decoration, and carry design intent into execution and workmanship.
