APEX — ABLBL Planning Expo

A dedicated trade and planning centre conceived and delivered as an integrated project — combining existing structure, new steel construction, interiors, services, compliance and launch within a compressed programme.

The Brief

Design, build, set up and launch within one integrated programme.

APEX was developed as a permanent centre for trade, planning and partner engagement, replacing the repeated cycle of temporary seasonal set-ups.

The project brought together brand display space, common gathering areas, parking, services and multiple stakeholder streams under one programme.

Delivery Strategy

Parallel workstreams rather than sequential execution.

Design, landlord deliverables, project execution, fixtures, services, steel fabrication, compliance and launch activities were overlapped and managed against the same end date.

This approach allowed structural, MEP, civil, interior and set-up activities to move simultaneously rather than waiting for one another to finish.

Design & Structure

Rebuild what existed; fabricate what was new.

The existing RCC Block A was retained, analysed, strengthened and extended. The central atrium and new Block B were developed in steel to enable off-site fabrication and faster installation.

The structural strategy also considered future adaptability and asset value rather than only the immediate launch requirement.

Professional Reflection

Complex delivery is ultimately about integration.

APEX reinforced the value of integrated planning: design, structure, services, procurement, stakeholder dependencies, compliance and execution cannot be managed as independent streams when the programme is compressed. The strength of the project lay in coordinating these streams around one shared completion objective.
